Jan JonesUntil ten years ago I hadn't picked up a paintbrush or a craft knife and then I was appointed as a year 6 teacher in a NZ school and art was part of the curriculum. I soon discovered that I loved being creative with paint and materials and like a new converted zealot, I couldn't be stopped. I started to sell my paintings and when I returned to the UK I continued to paint in a flamboyant, colourful and kiwi style. My paintings are bold and bright and reflect nature in a stylised way, with a definite Pacific twist, influenced by the 22 years I spent in New Zealand.
This year I have started to print my paintings on aluminium as well as on canvas and then I hang them in the garden for all year round colour and interest. These are certainly very bright and cheerful and in the winter will continue to provide vibrancy. I love colour. The Christmas trees I make from twigs and dowelling are very popular as festive table centre pieces. Each one is different and these can be made to order. |
