Lyn Chuter
About the Artist
Linda Chuter’s interest in music began as a young child learning to read music by playing the recorder at primary school. This progressed to tuition in classical guitar and piano as a teenager and becoming a Music and Humanities teacher after achieving a degree in Music and Education in the 1980s. She is particularly inspired by the impressionist music of French composers such as Faure, Debussy and Ravel and the way that they tried to achieve in sound what the impressionist painters such as Turner did with their artwork. When she met Daniel she started to try to improvise piano music that complemented the mood and atmosphere of his artwork as well as developing her own improvisatory style. She currently teaches piano and classical guitar to students of all ages and abilities. Linda has recently joined CVAT to be part of a positive and encouraging creative community with an interest in developing workshops to teach musical concepts in a practical hands-on way and to draw links between music and the visual arts. She has previously held workshops accompanying storytelling with musical improvisation to encourage almost tongue-in-cheek reflection on lessons we learn from our own life experiences.
