Arts Trail 2014
The Cam Valley was alive with artists over the 1st & 2nd November as 12 venues opened their doors as part of the second Cam Valley Arts Trail. There were exhibitions of work, artists on hand to demonstrate their craft and answer questions as well as free workshops for all ages across the weekend.
Activities included demos with the Old Bakery Artists and printing at High Littleton School through to storytelling with Mendip Storytelling Circle at Camerton and Farrington Gurney Schools. Artist Linda O'Gorman hosted a 'Recycling Textiles' workshop with participants going home with knitting needles to recycle beloved fabrics into stunning new items. Mark Rushton held a 'Exploring Clay' workshop which had children making decorations for their homes and Farrington Gurney WI kindly shared their knitting and crochet skills.
On the whole feedback from visitors and artists has been fantastic with many people impressed by the quality of work on show and the range of talent in our villages. Comments such as " A great community event",and "Lovely to talk to the artists - very interesting & informative", demonstrate the appreciation of those that came along.
The Cam Valley Arts Trail Group are now looking ahead to 2015 and opportunities to bring the arts into the Cam Valley.
