Catherine Beale

Watercolours; line and wash: new book 'Capturing light'
For twenty years painter Catherine Beale has specialised in watercolours and now has a new book (published this May with Search Press) explaining exactly why. Inspired by their fluidity - the way they 'whoosh across the page’ - and their luminosity, her artistic practice is all about rendering portraits and landscapes in wet-in-wet watercolour. ‘From the dart of sunbeams through trees to the silver lining of a cloud or sunlight reflected on a lake surface, to the mysterious shadows across a face.' She enjoys explaining her techniques in depth in her Bath Watercolour Workshops and at art centres across the country and the Artist Magazine.
