Watercolour/pen and wash/acrylics
Paintings of flowers worked in watercolours with black backgrounds to produce a 3-D effect, showing botanical detail and/or insects pertaining to that plant. The flowers are painted on white watercolour botanical paper with a black background painted around the plant afterwards, to show emphasis on light and dark. I have produced a series of small paintings of flowers with gold backgrounds using the same method, mainly plants from my garden or plants pertaining to certain areas visited this year. The Christmas painted stars have also been painted with the same method with either a gold or silver background.
