Heritage wheat crafter
My work is created from straw, usually wheat straws. Whole straws are woven into shapes traditional and modern. Sometimes the straws are split to create delicate splints which I use to make straw stars (an art form in itself) or passementeries. On other occasions, I slit the straws, iron them flat and make straw sheets suitable for straw marquetry items. Working with straw is a heritage craft and I particular enjoy introducing other people to the work through talks and workshops. Exhibiting at Venue 8
