Helen Rushton
Hand dyed and woven textiles, woven willow baskets and dragonflies.
I started spinning, weaving and dyeing about thirty years ago at evening classes in The Blue school in Wells, and it has been a passion ever since.
I love bright colours taken from the natural world and mainly use plants for dyeing the fibers that I spin and weave. I have a large floor loom that I weave rugs and throws on and a smaller table loom for weaving scarves. My interest in willow weaving started 15 years ago when I saw an advert for a workshop to make a basket, I was then hooked. I love the smell of the willow when weaving the baskets and only use willow from the Somerset levels. Venue 5 - High Littleton Church Hall
