Lila Streether
Watercolour painting with emphasis on light and shade. Fruit, flowers, insects, etc.
I paint botanical subjects, insects, birds, and some landscapes in the traditional way. Paintings are mainly in watercolour; sometimes I make a collage or use acrylics, or I draw with an art pen and add colour with watercolours. I am also influenced by local countryside and enjoy painting watercolour landscapes. A number of my paintings have black backgrounds: Colours are slowly built up with layers to produce a 'glow' to the painting, this can take many layers to achieve the right effect. I keep my paintings in a dust-free environment before framing, as any imperfections will show under glass.
