John Pope
Unique ceramic clocks, stylised creature figures, vases, decorative bowls etc
I started making pottery just before I retired. Evening classes to start then various day courses gave me a thoroughly pleasurable grounding in all aspects of working with clay. I now concentrate on hand-building and also slip-casting using moulds I made from my original clay models. I prefer using stoneware clays but do also work with earthenware including raku-fired pieces. I design and make a diverse and unique range of ceramic clocks, stylised creature figures, vases, bowls etc. Main influences are Art Deco style and geometry and the natural world.
