Batik/ screen printing
Having lived in the Cam Valley for 8 years, my inspiration comes from my delightful surroundings, focusing in on landscapes, flora and fauna that are my daily discoveries. I work and teach from my studio nestled behind the Somerset Coal Canal basins in Paulton. Batik is an organic media where you just need to literally 'go with the flow'. The technique, drawing with hot soya wax and layering vibrant dyes on to the cloth, results in an image that is fresh and detailed, with a 3 dimensional quality. Screen printing is often used to provide 'sharp' edges in contrast to the fluidity of the batik.
