CVAT Membership
Welcome to our dynamic and active arts group!
Cam Valley Arts Group operates with a membership for artists who wish to join our group and join in the various events we hold. Membership is for all artists who live or work in the local area and runs from 1 April to 31 March. If you would like to consider becoming a member please go to the Contact Page where you will find a form for Membership Enquiries.
Why be a member? :
Publicity for your creative work on our website (see members page).
Invitations to exhibit your work annually at our Spring Sale in April/ May (Members only event) and over the weekend of our Arts Trail in the first week of November.
Other opportunities to participate in other exhibition opportunities throughout the year (email alerts).
Opportunities to run demonstrations and workshops (workshops days and during arts trail) and even to work with schoolchildren at their school.
Opportunities to book workshops run by our artist members
Social networking events: themed sessions/ workshop visits/ artist demos. Learn from each other about exhibiting, marketing and perhaps new tips/ skills
Our expectations of our members:
Mutual support during events: everyone is a volunteer and so that we can all share the workload e.g. setting up, taking down, helping with signage/ publicity and providing your own exhibition resources as required e.g. trestle table (around £40 to buy), cloth cover, display props e.g. boards, table easels, browsers, business cards, labels, price tags, etc.
Participating in Events: Arrive and setting up in time before start. Stay until the event closes, even if there is a lull (it looks bad when people arrive to view and are greeted with boxes and exhibits being packed away or a gap). Contribute a cake/ refreshments when we are offering these at a venue. Consider volunteering to do refreshments/ greeting etc. (if you are not exhibiting). Be prompt paying for your booking to avoid disappointment (and save the time of our volunteer treasurer).
And finally: we are a growing group of artists/crafts people who pride ourselves and have a reputation for the originality and continuing high standards of our work. We look forward to supporting you in showcasing your original handcrafted work.
We are all volunteers: Please be patient with those volunteering to organise events and accepting of your allocation in a space or particular venue. We aim to ensure that each venue has a range of disciplines/ media/ styles and to rotate the artists year on year. You may find that you are not allocated your preferred venue.
You are most welcome! The CVAT committee hope that you will be inspired, prosper, benefit, enjoy and be motivated by being part of the Cam Valley Arts Trail.
