Jo Hill
I am a mixed media textile artist, designer and tutor, now living in Saltford. I enjoy working with natural fabrics much of which is recycled and reclaimed. I love texture, pattern and a frayed or ripped edge.
My colour palette is often soft and muted. I hand-dye, print or paint my fabrics and papers to achieve interesting and personal textures, colours and designs.
I often work intuitively, using my fabrics and papers, building up background layers as you would a collage, I then add the details using free machine embroidery or hand stitch. I use many creative techniques in one piece and like to break the traditional rules to explore my medium.
I run workshops in Marksbury village hall on a range of textile subjects and techniques, especially free motion embroidery, please see my website for details.
