Kate Westcott
The inspiration that comes from living in the English countryside is never ending to me. From the stark winter trees, to the bunches of tiny flowers of cow parsley in spring, the sun and shade of summer and then the most stunning colours of autumn. These incredible images inspire me all year round, through every beautiful season and are why I make what I make. Using natural, ethically and environmentally sourced materials where possible, these creations leave little impact on the Earth.
I was brought up in Wiltshire and mainly lived in London, before settling in Timsbury just south of Bath. We built a studio in our back garden where I have been making, printing and painting ever since. My mother and grandmother were both artists and I feel as if I have been instilled with making all my life.
I am mainly self-taught and am constantly growing my artistic and creative self. Whilst screen-printing is my principal practice, I also paint, work with wire, print with Lino and more. I often have some exciting new project on the go and sometimes it can be hard for me to contain the prolific creative side of me, which can be quite overwhelming!
