Suzy Williams
I trained as an Occupational Therapist in the early 1970s when the emphasis was on rehabilitation of those with physical or mental health difficulties using various art and craft techniques. Although my working life was spent working in mental health (so mostly talking!) I have continued to “dabble” in a variety of different art forms, including photography, embroidery, acrylic paints and photographic collage.
I have been inspired and encouraged by my Aunt, herself a pioneering OT, and my Great Uncle, FC Dixon, a consummate etcher who studied at the RCA in the 1920s with revered artists such as Revillious, Bawden, and Tunnicliffe and whose work my sister and I have sought to promote since we inherited his estate in 2010 (you can see his work at www.fcdixonetchings.co.uk ). |
